About Us
We are a brand new nonprofit charity based in New Jersey established in 2023. The idea was originally born out of my Dad’s desire as a little boy to become a philanthropist from his humble beginnings. My Mom and Dad always loved cats and dogs, as do I and my husband, and we rescued many over the course of my lifetime. For years, we helped all those who came into our lives, and contributed money to various shelters and rescue organizations. My husband, who is an animal whisperer, adores cats and has adopted the title Chief Kitten Kisser of The Tanner Foundation. My Mom and Dad also loved to dance, it’s how they met, and were professional ballroom teachers. I grew up dancing and singing and although I was interested in medicine, became a dance instructor owning my own studio, Secaucus Dance Arts, Inc. I always had a passion for live theatre and became a professional actress, singer, dancer, choreographer and director for many years and it’s how I met my husband. Education was always a top priority in our family and I found the sciences endlessly fascinating. Encouraged by my brilliant cousin, I graduated cum laude with a pre-med BA in Science and Psychology from Fordham University at Lincoln Center. So animals, the arts and the sciences have always been a part of who I am. After life threw me a sharp curve for over decade and a half being a caregiver for my parents, becoming the president of a philanthropic organization is my Act III ~ The Tanner Foundation is their legacy of love left for me to carry on. I hope to do it justice. I love you Mom and Dad.
Our Mission
The Tanner Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity organization. We support animal welfare – especially cats and dogs, we support the arts and sciences, and we are committed to helping all for the greater good.
Cats
We love cats and kittens! We donate to nonprofits to support community cats who are homeless, neglected and or abused. We support stiffer penalties for animal abuse. We support community TNR (trap, neuter, release) programs. We donate to and sponsor individual ally cats who need veterinary care, food, and shelter. We help with hands on rescue, and aid in their adoption to get a furever home.
Dogs
We love dogs and puppies! We donate to nonprofits dedicated to animal rescue, and to adoption shelters for furever homes. We support individual dogs who are victims of animal abuse and or neglect. We support stiffer penalties for animal abuse. We support the dogs of police K-9 units, including retired military, and we support the end of cruel and illegal fighting rings.
Arts
We love the Arts! We donate to nonprofit theatre organizations especially to encourage and foster new works. We sponsor the David Bean Memorial scholarship for Technical Theatre in Hunter College. We support STEAM (science, technology, engineering, ARTS, mathematics) education, music, dance, writing, painting, poetry, storytelling, sculpture, architecture, photography and entertainment to champion freedom of expression, beauty and creativity, making the world both a happier and more circumspect place to live.
Sciences
We love the sciences! We donate to STEM education. We sponsor robotics teams. We contribute to nonprofit projects in the fields of curing diseases. We bolster students of math, biology, astronomy, chemistry, physics, engineering, psychology and medicine. We especially support research and development for the combined sciences of psychology and medicine for the betterment of our health, wellbeing, physicality and ultimately the quality of our lives.
